Windshield For Forth Bridge

Designers have created a windshield for the latest new bridge to open shortly in Scotland.

Queensferry Crossing Bridge has been designed with barriers which are three and half meters tall and have been fitted with baffle barriers which deflects gusts of wind on impact.

This new design has already been successfully tested on several roads within close proximity to the new bridge.

The idea behind the new windshields is to keep the bridge open during high winds thereby causing minimum disruption to traffic travelling in both directions.

The Forth Road Bridge has already endured a number of disruptions over the past year with closures due to high winds and repairs. The latest bridge design will hopefully put a stop to any further closures.
