Scottish Borders will be home to a new whisky development if plans are given the go ahead for the distillery which is expected to cost around £40 million pounds to build.

Camptown will be the new site picked for the distillery on the previous Jedforest Hotel which can be found in the town.

Contractors Mossburn wish to build there creating around 50 jobs which are full time with the hopes to be building a restaurant which seats around 200 people.

Another company known as the Three Stills have shown an interest in the Hawick area of Commercial Road. Meanwhile the Mossburn company also own a distillery on Skye and are looking forward to expanding to the Borders which currently does not have any within their area.

Great news for tourists who may wish to drive their rental car from the North of England to Scotland and perhaps don’t have the time to drive around Scotland sampling the various distilleries.
