Newquay – Fastest Growing UK Airport

A staggering 1000 people and more pass through the Cornwall Airport of Newquay in the UK searching for car hire and flights each day last year.

Management are putting the increase down to the dropping of a controversial departure fee of £5 per passenger last April. The figures increased to over 1225 passengers each day from the following month.

The local charge was introduced by the airport which meant travellers were required to purchase a ticket inside the terminal and hand over to airport staff before they departed on their flight. This in turn caused a two fold departure line.

After the controversial ticketing system was removed Ryanair reinstated their flights from the airport.
