Millicent Fawcett Go-ahead


A statue of the late Dame Millicent Fawcett has been given the go ahead to be placed in Parliament Square. Next year in 2018 will be the 100th anniversary of the vote for women so the unveiling of a statue to their founder is long overdue.

Gillian Wearing will design the statue which will be displayed in Parliament Square. Dame Fawcett introduced the movement back in 1897 as the National Union of Women’s Suffrages.
