Mackintosh Festival – Glasgow pays tribute to famous son
Mackintosh Month- Over 30 events will be featured in celebration of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s life.
As a visitor to Glasgow you will be invited to discover the legacy of Mackintosh by viewing the buildings he designed.
The festival, now in year four, will take place throughout the month of October 2015.
It will feature more than 30 exhibitions as well as tours, talks, events and workshops, most of which are free.
Highlights of the exhibition include a UK premier on 17 October at the Lighthouse. This will feature the Reseau Art Nouveau Network travelling exhibition.
A talk on Kate Cranston will take place in the Willow Tea Rooms. This is entitled Tea, Talk and Tour and discusses her relationship with Mackintosh and her involvement in the suffragette and temperance movements.
Visitors to Glasgow will be able to explore Kate Cranston’s mansion, Hous’hill, which is now derelict.
The Glasgow Art Club which has Macintosh frieze in it’s main gallery is providing free tours.
