Do I Hire or Go By Public Transport on Arriving Into Scotland?
When booking your holiday to Scotland for the first time most tourists will either fly into Glasgow International Airport or Edinburgh Airport or Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
All of the airports mentioned have good public transport links into each city centre.
This is perfect for passengers who would rather wait to rent an economy car hire for a few days after they have landed and found their bearings around the cities. Rather than pick up a hire car from the airport and try and navigate returning a car rental to Glasgow Airport car parking lot for example.
Drivers will be able to find whatever van rental their budget will allow on our car hire comparison website. There is something to please all budgets and passenger numbers by either selecting a van rental similar to a 7 seater MPV or if you are after a short few days cheap car hire. You will not be disappointed. Have a look today on our instant quote system. There are various airports as well as a great number of downtown locations. You will be able to find a good deal on cheap car and van rentals when hiring from any of the terminals or downtown locations. Go online and book in advance to find the best deals.
Alternatively , passengers have great transport choice when arriving into any of the central belt terminals.
The terminal has an enclosed walk way which leads you directly onto a railway platform which will take you in both directions. A short journey of about 40 minutes will see you in the city centre of Glasgow. A 15 minute journey in the other direction will see you arriving into Ayr.
Most fares are half price from the airport to the centre provided you show your flight ticket when purchasing a train ticket.
Please note that Glasgow Central Station now operates a ticket barrier on each platform. Which means you will need to purchase a train ticket before you leave the train.
Trams and buses will drop you off in the city centre or take you in the opposite direction to the main terminal. There is also a shuttle bus which operates between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Trams are currently around £5 adult single from the airport zone into the city centre.
Last but now least Glasgow Airport has a regular bus service from the airport into the city centre which operates about every 15 minutes.
