Denver Radar Butterflies
The National Weather (NWS) Service located in Denver Colorado had a case of mistaken identity. The scientists on duty mistook a swarm of butterflies for birds and asked for help to identify the images on their screens.

Thanks to everyones help they were able to identify the mystery orange blob on their radar as butterflies called the “Painted Lady” which had an astonishing 110 kilometres mass of migrating butterflies in the region.
Unusual to be highlighted on their radar as normally only birds show up on the screen. The scientists asked for help in identifying the source and were rewarded later with the answers.
