BT Scraps 50% of Fon Boxes
The rise of the mobile phones means that the traditional red telephone boxes we all used when we were young before the age of the smartphone is coming to an end.

BT have announced that they will be closing around 50% of the iconic red boxes which can be found up and
down the country.
1992 was the peak of the landline phone boxes with nearly 92,000 boxes in the UK. Around 7,000 red boxes are still in existence today from 1935.
Nearly 20,000 boxes are earmarked for scrappage over the next few years. Don’t panic if your mobile runs out as there still around 20,000 left to call from in the UK if your battery runs out.
