My car hire quote page keeps freezing and I can’t make a car rental booking.

Answer:
There may be a glitch in either our system or your own computer.

You can try refreshing the page.

You may wish to leave the quote and try again in around 20 minutes.

Question:
What is the best way to get a car hire quote?

Answer:
All quotes and bookings are now made online via www.bluewheels.com

On the left hand side of each page there is a quote system. Type in your details and click quote.
In a new page all available cars will show.

If you wish to book, press book.

Then follow instructions through to the end.

A confirmation email will be sent to you with all your car hire details.

Question:
I am trying to receive a quote for pick up on a Sunday but the system will not let me.

Answer:
Nearly all city branches are closed on a Sunday within the UK.

The city branches are normally opened from Monday to Friday 0800 to 1800
then Saturday from 0800 to 1300.
Closed Sundays.

Only airports are opened on Sunday.

You may collect your car from a city branch before 1300 on a Saturday and return your car on Monday.

Question:
Where do I pick up my car hire from Heathrow Airport?

Answer:
The car rental firms at Heathrow Airport are mostly based in Northern Perimeter Road or in local hotels based at Heathrow Airport.

The car hire companies offer a free shuttle bus transferring customers from each terminal to the branch and the same in reverse.

There are dedicated bus stops outside each terminal each marked with the car hire firms’ name on the bus stops.

The shuttle buses continue on a loop from terminal 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

At the top of your rental confirmation there will be directions on collection of customers to their car rental firm.

Question:
Can I rent a one way hire within the UK?

Answer:
Yes

One way hires are normally permitted within the UK mainland.
Your one way fee will show on your quote page.
This will be added to your rental amount once you have confirmed you wish to go ahead with the booking.

An email confirmation will be sent to you showing the two different location details.

To select a different drop off location from pick up on quote page.
Click the box under the pick up location and then type in your drop off location including dates and time.

All available cars will show on a pop up page.

If no cars appear in a pop page then you may need to select a different drop off location.

Question:
What ID is required when I collect my vehicle from the branch?

Answer:
Best to check your rental conditions which can be found on your car rental voucher.

Generally speaking you will need to bring along:
current driving license. ( both parts if new UK style)
credit card in primary driver’s name
passport
sometimes the branch asks for other forms of ID such as a utility bill if you are resident within the country.

Additional drivers will need to be present with their ID at the branch in person in order to be added to the rental agreement.
Extra drivers can not be added to the agreement unless they appear in person at the branch.

Please note driving license will need to be written in Roman letters otherwise an International license will be required.

What happens if I can not find my car hire voucher?

Answer:
You can ask for a copy to be sent to you before you travel by email.

If you turn up at the branch with no voucher the car hire may charge a different amount or refuse to rent to you.
An appeal for a refund will not be granted if you do not produce your voucher at the rental desk.

Question:
Do I need to bring along my rental voucher when I collect my car?

Answer:
Yes

After you complete your car hire booking online. A confirmation email will be sent to you with all your booking details.
The voucher will show the booking price and details of your car rental.

Please present this voucher and other forms of ID to collect your car.
This will avoid confusion with the car rental branch as they will know what to charge you on arrival and if you have requested any special equipment with your rental.

Do I need an International Driving License to rent a car in the UK?

Answer:
If you are renting a car in the UK. Drivers will either need to hold a valid UK license or an International Driving License.

UK driving license can either be in the old paper style or in the new style of photograph and paper.
Please note :
If you hold a new style license you will need to bring along both parts ie photo and paper part in order to rent a vehicle.

If you can not find your paper part to your driving license , don’t worry.
The branches can call the DVLA for you when you arrrive at the branch.
There is a small charge for this service.

The DVLA are opened during UK office hours. If you are arriving at an airport outside normal office hours . You would be best to call the branch ahead of your arrival to arrange the DVLA check for your rental.
Otherwise you will need to wait until the DVLA open the following day.

If you are resident in the UK for more than 12 months you will need to change over to a UK license.

An International License is required when your current license is not written in Roman letters. Before travelling to the UK you will need to obtain an International License from your country .
This mostly applies to China, Russia etc.

Please note you will also require to bring along your current driving license and the International License in order to rent a car in the UK.
